Score!

How awesome are these chairs?  I just scored them from our local Facebook group Sell~Swap~Give.

They are Ethan Allen very heavy, well made chairs.  The best part- they were $55 for both!  I can't wait to slap some Old White on them tomorrow.  I'll add an after pic when they are done.

Volunteering this afternoon at ManeGait with College Boy and friends.  It should be a fun afternoon!

Bling

I made a trip to Sam Moon today for tiaras for my friend Elizabeth's fiftieth birthday.  I got the tiaras...

We're going to have so much fun in our western wear and tiaras!

I don't think I've been to Sam Moon in more than a year while looking for a wig for Halloween.  They have some great jewelry right now.  Take a look at this pretty number.

It was $9.50!

This pretty ivory enamel was $8.99!!

And these beautiful beads were just $6.50!!!

They all came with matching earrings I might wear separately.  I guess I need to pop in Sam Moon more often...

Hippity Hoppity

I had a "project" day with my friend Robin yesterday.  It was our first ever, but we both pledge to do it again soon!  The house was quiet, we listened to music, painted and sewed.  The perfect kind of day, right?  

So, the planned project was this sweet tea towel.  Inspiration via Design, Dining + Diapers.

Robin broke out her new Silhouette and cut a super cute bunny stencil for us.  We followed Taryn's directions and came up this this...

That one project just got us all fired up to create more!  So, Robin wanted to try a tea towel with a little ruffle.  Here is the result...

Oh, how sweet is this?  She left the top edge raw.  So adorable!

Then, we dug out the drop cloth and made table runners.  I had seen this cute little Easter runner from Eclectically Vintage.

I think College Boy and Cookie are getting a little concerned about my "bunny addiction".  College Boy said, "So, this is what you did all day?"  Um, heck yeah!  What's wrong with it?

Funkin Specked Egg

So, while at Hobby Lobby gathering supplies for the Flopsy's specked egg project, I ran across giant Funkin eggs.  One came home with me to be painted and speckled too.  

I painted it at the same time as the paper mache eggs using Jen's tutorial.  I think it turned out super cute!  College Boy can't seem to keep his hands off it.  He thinks it needs to stand on end.  

Aren't the Trader Joe's ranunculus and hydrangeas beautiful?

Speckled Eggs

I was inspired by several pretty blue speckled eggs this week. 

Aren't these pretty paper mache eggs that Jen at City Farmhouse created awesome?

And how perfectly glorious are these Bluebird eggs Mama II and Daddy II (a Bluebird couple my parents host in their backyard)  produced this week?  Granddad has a blog where he journals about the Bluebirds every year.  You can read more about them at Bluebird Diary.  

I decided we needed some Spring in our home.  The speckled eggs are a perfect way to start welcoming in the new season.  I ran to Hobby Lobby and Michael's for supplies.  I followed Jen's tutorial and came up with these.

While my photography needs a lot of work, I think you get the idea.  

Flopsy is keeping watch over them.  I hope a little critter doesn't cart them off thinking they look tasty.

Rock and Roll

My family has a collection of old albums.  Some are mine. I know, I know.  I was gonna marry Andy Gibb, but so were some of my friends!  One even named her horse Shadow Dancer.

Some are Granddad's (my dad). I listened to a lot of Michael Martin Murphey when I was a kid.  He is pretty awesome!

Some are Uncle Jim's (my brother).

Some are Juan's.

This one is likely Meme's (my mom).

I think this one belonged to Granddad's dad.

Because I have some music loving boys, I wanted to do something for them with this multi-generational collection.  We mounted a new flat screen television (thanks Uncle Jim) on the third floor which is a space devoted to all things male.  I decided upon an art wall around the television  with framed albums.

The guys chose the albums they wanted to frame.  The one that looks blank is AC/DC Back In Black.

I cut out templates out of old wrapping paper to try different layouts and taped them to the wall.  This is the one I settled on after some consultation with my friend Robin.  (What can I say, I like to watch HGTV while I work.)

I started with the center frame on the bottom and moved out and up from there when hanging the albums.  

I bought this new level with a ruler on the side to help with the project.  I marked the distance from the center of one frame to the next with tape on the level.  Since the frames were square, this worked both horizontally and vertically.

I ended up with this.

I would love to add this diy console from lizmarieblog.com .  Maybe I can get Cookie (sixteen year old baby) to help me build it.  She has it styled so beautifully too.

How awesome is this?  I can't wait until Liz Marie posts the tutorial!  We too have a very long wall and need something long and budget friendly to fill it.

I'm SO not a carpenter.  I'll have to muster up some bravery for this project!
